Callypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she's been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she's received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear.Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He's a man who can get you anything you want ... at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one of his clients, he's never asked for repayment. Not until now. When Callie finds the fae king of the night in her room, a grin on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, she knows things are about to change. At first it's just a chaste kiss-a single bead's worth-and a promise for more. For the Bargainer, it's more than just a matter of rekindling an old romance. Something is happening in the Otherworld. Fae warriors are going missing one by one. Only the women are returned, each in a glass casket, a child clutched to their breast. And then there are the whispers among the slaves, whispers of an evil that's been awoken. If the Bargainer has any hope to save his people, he'll need the help of the siren he spurned long ago. Only, his foe has a taste for exotic creatures, and Callie just happens to be one.

"I loved this book so much! Very intriguing and well written! Fated mates, slow burn, morally gray MMC! Callie and Des are the best and they're so sweet together! This book had me hooked from the very beginning, and it was pretty fast paced! 10/10 would recommend! Can't wait to check out book two!"
"*WARNING THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS* Wow, this was soo good. It immediately hooked me in! The only reason why I bought this book in the first place is because of one of my favorite booktubers "G-Swizzel". Hearing the love she has for this series when she talks about it convinced me to pick up book 1. Now I'm going to need the rest of the series. I wasn't expecting any of what went down in this book and to say I was shocked, heartbroken and a little angry is kind of an understatement lol. I loved the writing style, it was an easy read, fast paced and I loved the characters. Callie and Des had some serious chemistry from day 1! And the fact that he felt that when he met her says something!! I'm not a fan of going back and forth between past and present but in this case I understood why because of what happened during some of the past relates back to the current present. I got really mad that Des didn't tell Callie immediately about them being soul mates, that's a pretty major thing to keep to yourself for more than seven years dude. Temper was pretty cool, I didn't like Eli much but at least he understood afterwards. There were a lot of "hints" regarding a lot of things so I wasn't surprised when I already figure out that the "high paying" client was the thief of souls, which ended up being the "kidnapper", I was surprised that it took Callie is little bit longer to figure it out, I'm like okay come on, it right there in front of your face lol. I do wonder why it took Des that long to find her if the magic of his bargains was easily traceable? It was sad to see Callie go through the torture of the transformation, I do wonder why the magic was getting rejected by her body? The wings are pretty cool though. I didn't like the fact that there was women being raped and stuff, it didn't sit right with me even though it happened off the page. I really like how this fantasy book had romance in it but also a really good plot. Great read!"
"Grooming isn’t hot. If you want to call this a dark fantasy and categorize it that way that’s fine, but let’s not try to justify a grown man grooming a 15 year old r**e victim for years. The scenes of him visiting her while in school and thinking to himself that he had to wait until she is older to “be” with him was disgusting. I can’t fathom why people think he’s dreamy. What’s worse is they were selling this at target next to Percy Jackson for goodness sakes. "
"Wasn’t a new favorite but it was interesting enough. 3/5 stars. "

"Brought back from the dnf pile....why because I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. Literally everyone: "If you love acotar...." no, no no no no no. Not even close. No world building, no character development, no verity of fae creatures, no twist. Do not say that to me or I will throw the whole hardcover court seires right at your face.<br/><br/>This story starts off with two main characters and that is all you get. Briefly her best friend and ex-lover are thrown in just to mix I up a bit and then get thrown right back out. I've said it a million times one of the worst tropes is when someone repeatedly says stuff like "I can't keep relationships, oh who him yeah we have been dating for months but I've never liked him like that, ugh he has always treated me like a possession, this other guy would never do that". Yes ok we know you only like the hot strong cloud of darkness and no one else, we get it.<br/><br/>Lara reiterates everything a multitude of times especially things that make her more special than anyone else. That was what sealed the deal for me, instead of a world of magical creatures, or a plot that kept you on the edge of your seat, you simply got a monotony of repeative....look at me I'm special. "The barginer would never do this for anyone else. He only does this for me. Iv never done that with anyone but him." Sorry that was a spoiler for the whole book oops.<br/><br/>And I don't care if the president writes a statement tomorrow and says fifteen is a legal adult age uh no that is not ok. Of course it's a book and some people look over the fact but imagine that was your child and a boy is saying and doing those things. Doesn't look so okay now does it? Desmond says many and does many suggestive things. Well buddy down here in the South we don't play like that. Not unless you want to wake up 6 feet under. How freaking old is Desmond anyway it never says?<br/><br/>The whole book felt unoriginal, like it took pieces from other stories and put them together without the execution. There was rarely any outside influences, or other characters to break up the monotony. The world building was non existent we just followed the two mains around. And omg Land of sleep and small death.... this that a idiom for an ******? *eye roll* Also wings are not for flight there for the two other f words. Fight or f*ck. Really? Come on that is so terrible. Really was hoping I heard that wrong. Oh and in case I didn't mention it that is what Desmond said to the 15 year old child.<br/><br/>****spoliers***<br/> <br/>because I need to complain a little more<br/><br/>-----<br/><br/>----------------<br/><br/>------------------------<br/><br/>--------------------------------<br/><br/>-------------------------------------<br/><br/>------------------------------------------<br/><br/>-----------------------------------------------<br/><br/>"I noticed the bastard that took me is nowhere to be seen. Was he the thief of souls or someone else entirely? He never even attempted to explain himslef or his motives."<br/><br/>HE DIDN'T ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN BECAUSE HE WAS KIDNAPPING YOU NOT TAKING YOU WILLINGLY TO A TEA PARTY.<br/><br/>Honestly I think the story would have been much better if Desmond wasn't a fae (of course he is) king. Especially with the lack of world building the author should have just cut out the other relm and he could be a normal Paranormal dude *chuckle*. Omg come on one of Desmond's jobs was to help people get it on. I can't believe I finished this book.<br/><br/>And a siren with wings? Just give her a lizard tail while your throwing out body parts. Lara: s<br/>"Somethings going on and I'm going to figure out what it is"....yeah we all know what it is your mates move on. I had that pegged the first few chapters. That is no a twist, it is the obvious."
