"A princesse’s journey to break free from a life without choices to a life where she can hide title and duties. As love finds Lia everything is taken when she is imprisoned by another kingdom that is hostile and cruel. I love Lia’s strength, determination and integrity. I’m excited to see what comes next when she will be forced to keep standing strong!"
"This was definitely one of the better romances I have read recently. Keeping the love interests semi anonymous easily made what would have been a simple but enjoyable romance novel into an engaging one. Multi perspective books often make me feel like I know too much to be surprised and Pearson did a great job of mostly avoiding that!"
"Teenage me would have loved this, adult me liked it enough to read the next book. I am not a huge fan of love triangles and there is one in this story… one you have to play a guessing game with for over half the story. Some of the backstory isn’t explained super well, but not enough to overly bother me. It’s clean/YA, not overly fantasy, and free on kindle unlimited. "
"Ugh this book is painfully YA! To the point where both the men show up at the same time from different parts of the country and out of all the men in the tavern these two are so uniquely amazing to her. I mean for goodness sake one is suppose to be a killer and he is just broodingly stalking her. I'm on chapter 14 and can't really take anymore the story started out well with her defying her very nature and leaving the castle. But the plot just becomes more and more bland after she makes it to her destination. I'm sure she turns a corner and stops being so shallow at some point but I didn't see any plot twist or anything worth while in the foreseeable future."
"I think I might have enjoyed this book as a teenager but as an adult I was pretty bored. It seemed like nothing happened, the characters were incredibly flat and I didn’t really care what happened to any of them. There wasn’t really any fantasy lore introduced in this first book so the setup wasn’t engaging. It felt like reading a news briefing. Wouldn’t recommend for more experienced readers.
