"This book was so lighthearted and cute! The characters were lovable and quirky, the plot was fun and fast paced, and I loved the writing style! This book definitely dove way deeper into the gaming aspect than the first book (Dungeons and Drama) did, but everything was quite well explained and fairly easy to understand, even for someone like me, who knows next to nothing about D&D. The plot was admittedly mostly just teenage drama, which made it seem pretty immature, but it was entertaining and at times hilarious. The main characters, Quinn and Logan, were both so sweet and dorky, and they were an adorable couple! There were also plenty of lovable side characters, including Quinn's meddling grandmother, who kinda stole at times! Forbidden romance, mutual pining, slow burn, nerdy characters, D&D, diverse characters, found family, and an adorable, meddlesome grandmother! Even though it was very Y/A, this book was definitely worth the read, and I'm sincerely hoping for a third book! "
"It’s been a while since I’ve read just a simple YA romance, so even if this was a little generic, it was refreshing enough for me. I liked how there was a bit more focus on the romance than the actual D&D, since as much as I love the game, it can get tedious reading the technical details of it. Logan and Quinn were cute and wholesome, but my favorite part was the friendship Quinn formed with Kashvi, they were so wholesome together. I don’t have any major complaints about this, but rather a bunch of tiny naggings, including Quinn’s old friends being the worst people ever but Quinn didn’t really do anything to deal with it by the end, Logan and Quinn constantly going from buddies to bickering to buddies again, the whole “let’s just take some time away from each other” trope, and the story making it obvious that something would happen to Quinn’s grandma. But most of this was just based on the fact that I’ve read so much YA romance that it starts to feel all the same after a while, and that I still read it since it’s cute. So despite the little critiques, overall this was a cute little story, and I will read the companion novel. "
