"If you enjoy romance and anything fairy-related but are tired of Cruel Prince and other YA stories, read this trilogy. This has everything I want in a book: amazing plot with unpredictable twists and tiny details that make the story so rich; flawed but heartwarming characters; somewhat ridiculous (oh my god) but undoubtedly great chemistry between the heroes, and all sorts of fairy lore. Besides, this is clearly a story for ADULTS, without cheap drama to force the plot. Overall, it was a fantastic continuation of the first book, and I'm eager to read the third one."
"Following Emily was like tailing Alice while she took notes and outwitted the folks of Wonderland. It was great fun. Whimsical too in a sinister way. Wendell has a nacked for enchanting the most unlikely things. Emily's cloak was my favorite among them. And it was not magicked in a way you can explain the abilities had to be solved which made it all the more exciting.
Wendell still intrigues me. He is unlike any other fae I have read about. Lazy, and whiny, but still dangerous with plenty of mystery to be had. Wow I mean when his eyes went dark I felt butterflies in my belly. ((..Small spoiler ahead..)) Sadly after building up my hopes and dreams all the adult stuff was skipped over *cry face*. Now I shall sit in the corner and pout for the remainder of the day.
Emily said it best..... absurd. The fae realm is ridiculous and it's hard to know up from down but that's what makes it intriguing. And the author still had that lurking in the dark atmosphere. I love it. Also, I very much enjoyed the side characters dynamics. They made the story more bold. Rose was not a character I usually take to but I felt myself falling for his bossy attitude, especially after hearing his backstory.
Though quirky and dark fun I still needed more romance. It kept me wanting at a disappointing rate. Someone mentioned in their review Howl and Sophie and now I can't unsee it. And of course, how could I forget Wendell's entries. He is so dramatic. Still even being let down I loved this book and hope that there might be more."
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Five glorious stars for one of my most cherished series. Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries was such a breath of fresh air, mixing in sweet romance with an interesting set of characters and plot.
Map of the Otherlands did not disappoint, especially as we see the development between Emily and Wendell (kicking my feet and giggling at them). The plot was amazing, so much better than I expected at the start (and I expected a lot).
Please consider picking up this series if you want a cute story, witty banter, eclectic characters, and low-ish stakes."
"I absolutely loved Encyclopedia of Faeries, and the second book did not disappoint! Emily and Wendell are as delightful and as lovable this time around as they were the first, and even though I didn't think it was possible to top their adventures in Faerie, this book does such a good job of paying homage to what we the readers loved about the first installment as well as introducing new and delightful characters and places for us to grow to love in this continuation. I read it in less than a day, and I desperately need there to be a third book because I am not ready to say goodbye to these characters!!"
