"Difficult book to read. I first started reading this when Russia invaded Ukraine. Having a friend who lives there made everything more real and I had to put this down for months. I finally picked it back up about 6 months later and although I liked the powerful anti-war message the reality and atrocities happening in Ukraine affected this read in profound ways. This book, written in the 1930s, and the war in Ukraine are now inextricably linked for me. "
"It took me months to get through this book but I’m so glad I finished it. Kind of a hard read if you lose track easily but even then it is fitting for a book like this. Arguably a book everyone should read once to fully comprehend how corrupt war is and the people who push for them to happen."
