Anne Rice
The spellbinding classic that started it all, from the #1 New York Times bestselling author—the inspiration for the hit television series “A magnificent, compulsively readable thriller . . . Rice begins where Bram Stoker and the Hollywood versions leave off and penetrates directly to the true fascination of the myth—the education of the vampire.”—Chicago TribuneHere are the confessions of a vampire. Hypnotic, shocking, and chillingly sensual, this is a novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing force—a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write.

"This is a must read if you are fan of vampires like myself. You can clearly see this was the foundation and inspiration for the modern day vampires of today. They can walk among us they can't exist among us there is a sexuality and a beauty to it. Please take the time to read this it is a beautiful read truly"

"I ended up watching the movie in tandem with the book I had a hard time getting into the story it was feeling a bit wordy in the beginning as most classics do which I did enjoy that aspect to a certain degree because there are some beautiful lines and quotes. Definitely both reading and watching the movie made my reading experience way better it became more atmospheric and had me better invested. The story was great like the toxic relationship left and right the dramatics it was genuinely enjoyable great for an October read and the audiobook was also enjoyable "
"A classic - read this before you see the movie. You will be as puzzled as to why they cast Tom Cruise in the lead."

"Not often am I able to read a book after watching the movie. Even though in my opinion it stayed close to the original. I was completely enthralled with the relationships that took place. Louis and Claudia's love stood out stark white against Lestat's dark hatred. But it seemed as if they all belonged together in some preternatual way I could not explain.

Taking words from the book, the story is so confoundly complex but the ideas so simple. The young Claudia and her damning beauty that could never bloom but forever stay a soft child like with a piecing mind. Louis loving her unconditionally even to his own demise. The writing was entrancing holding within it all the joy and despair of life itself.

I became lost in this story and it's lyrical writing. Though the ending completely derailed me. The atmosphere was dark and mysterious even gruesome at times. I'm always intrigued to learn the secrets of the world and think myself what I would do if I lived forever. See the world? Go crazy with loss or complacency? Love? The plot brings it all to the forefront."
"Loved this book when I initially read it prob 10 years ago. I’m not an avid reader in part because I have ADD. The way she writes really did paint a picture and give a feeling that put me in the story. She took what are typically cliche and tired character types and brought a fresh, and thoughtful point of view to them. Fantastic. Following books are good, but imo, nothing like the first in the series."
