It's difficult to find a husband in Regency England when you're a young lady with only half a soul.Ever since a faerie cursed her, Theodora Ettings has had no sense of fear, embarrassment, or even happiness-a condition which makes her sadly prone to accidental scandal. Dora's only goal for the London Season this year is to stay quiet and avoid upsetting her cousin's chances at a husband... but when the Lord Sorcier of England learns of her condition, she finds herself drawn ever more deeply into the tumultuous concerns of magicians and faeries.Lord Elias Wilder is handsome, strange, and utterly uncouth-but gossip says that he regularly performs three impossible things before breakfast, and he is willing to help Dora restore her missing half. If Dora's reputation can survive both her ongoing curse and her sudden connection with the least-liked man in all of high society, then she may yet reclaim her normal place in the world... but the longer Dora spends with Elias Wilder, the more she begins to suspect that one may indeed fall in love, even with only half a soul.Pride and Prejudice meets Howl's Moving Castle in this enthralling historical fantasy romance, where the only thing more meddlesome than faeries is a marriage-minded mama. "4.5⭐
This book was such an easy, laid back read! It's quite cozy and whimsical, and very well written! The plot was well paced and interesting, and the characters were very lovable! Dora was a pretty unique FMC, and was hands down my favorite character in this book! She was funny, kind, and caring, and I found her quite relatable at times. Elias was a fun but broody character, and I loved him and Dora together! Their banter was so much fun! The romance was very sweet and clean, though I wish we could have gotten a few more fluffy scenes! The ending was good, if a bit rushed. If you're looking for a historical romantasy with cozy vibes and a clean romance then I definitely recommend checking this book out!
The Lord Sorcier - 4⭐ (This is a prequel novella. I can't find it on this app, so I'm just reviewing it here.)
All of the events in this prequel take place years before Half a Soul, and it's written in Albert's POV. Reading this novella definitely isn't necessary, but it was fun to see snippets of the war, and to see Elias from Albert's POV. It was very well written, and I definitely enjoyed it!
The Latch Key - 4⭐ (Another short story!)
This enchanting little novella is set after the events of Half a Soul. It shows Elias learning how to be a father, as well as a few chapters that show his own childhood. It was well written and I thought it was quite interesting to see some of his childhood. If you're wanting to dive a bit deeper into this world then I would definitely recommend checking out this novella!"
"I wld actually rate this book 4.5 ⭐️ i actually really enjoyed this. It’s like a self published debut thing so it’s not the most like refined piece of work (although I think it’s very well WRITTEN) but it was enjoyable and easy to get sucked into. It really captured my attention and kept it there throughout and while I’m sure there’s some holes here and there in the conclusion (SPOILER: like why did she and him end up going back to farie and taking back the other half i don’t get that part) but it was good overall. I’m not the most picky with this stuff and o think people read into it a bit too much a lot of the time but I can see how if your a strict type of person the slight inconsistency in her emotions might bother you. Overall I thought it was good, easy to read, short, and cute. I would recommend this if you’re not a person who is going to get angry about minor things like that. The only thing I really didn’t like sss the very last sentence/ paragraph. It was unnecessary and threw off the ending. Don’t read that line. "
"I loved the autistic coded Dora, I felt very connected to her (since I am on the spectrum). The first half of this book I thought this would be a 5 star book. But halfways through the book lost its vision on Dora and went more towards 3 chapters of talking about the plague. There were still bits of Dora and Elias but that really disjointed the entire story for me. The second half does have some really good plot twist that made it all the more enjoyable. It just really spoiled the storyline to go from balls, fae, and a grumpy love interest to the plague and workshops."
"Absolutely loved this! It is one of my favorite books. No spice, but whimsical, fun, and a good romance!"

"I'd give this a 3.5. It's a promising debut novel and I'll probably check out the next one to see what happens and how the story ends. This is a great audiobook with a great narrator. The narrator does really well in bringing the characters to life, the story, and the world.
It's a story about a girl who is cursed because her mother made a deal with a faerie who came to collect and he started to steal her soul but was interrupted by her cousin coming to stab the faerie so he only collects half her soul. Since Dora had half her soul stolen, she becomes a bit strange. She no longer behaves as a normal person should with her emotions and such. Since she's an oddity she gives up on thinking she'll have a normal life or have a chance at love. Of course, things happen and change, and she finds herself falling in love with a faerie/part faerie man.
This is a cute, sweet romance novel. It's a clean novel with nothing explicit or on the page throughout the story. There is some nastiness and mean behavior toward Dora by her family that has to take care of her because she has no one else and nowhere else to live. Dora's cousin is her saving grace and her best friend that keeps her with the family and in society.
If you enjoy Regency novels, sweet romance, a bit of magic and fae then take a listen. Thanks so much to Hachette Audio for letting me listen and review this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own."
