"It truly is a Disney version of the original Annie story in every way. The songs maintain a more upbeat, catchy tone making them easier to want to listen to again & again. Then the characters are smoothed out to be more relatable while also expanding on them enough to be intriguing. Whether that be Annie showing more heart & being a main character who progresses the story, or its the villain being conniving yet maintaining their evil heart. Plus, there's also the fact it had to wrap up everything with a nice bow at the end. By that, I mean them making sure every orphan gets a family kind of situation. It's a very Disney trope to truly find a happy ending for all involved. Excluding the villain of course. I also enjoyed the ways they strayed away from the original's story. How they used the song NYC instead of the Movie song to pay homage to the broadway musical itself. How they had Roosters girlfriend be more of a fling as compared to the devoted girl like in 1984 Annie. That allowed Hannigan to appear more even if it doesn't make sense when Annie interacts with her. Then finally, I adore Grace's reprise of Tomorrow as she comforts Annie near the end. Without them doing that, I wouldn't have the song that's actually in my top 10 most played songs. I also love that for the song Little Girls, she sees girls where they aren't, helping prove Hannigans descent, unlike the original where they're everywhere, proving her anger. Overall, the songs are great, the story is intriguing, it has Disney magic, actors did the parts justice, Sandy is cute, the villains are believable, & the pacing is done exceptionally well. You feel the urgency of moments as well as the slowness. Even the times you need to feel on edge or awkward, the plotline works wonders. You'll understand once you watch it more but they just paced it well & had the subplots come to a head in great ways, whether it's the girls exposing Hannigan or the way they introduce Sandy. All of it feels like a true movie."
