"If you’ve never seen Wentworth, give Season One a try to see if you’d like it. There are so many interesting characters in this series, especially the first season! This TRULY is a great show, but particularly if you are drawn to #dramas that are also riveting #crime #thrillers. The MOST #memorable character of all (for me) — from the first few seasons — had to be “The Governor” (the prison warden) played by Joan Ferguson, but another memorable and absolute favorite character of mine from Season 1 was Maxine Conway. She is a Black, #queer character who identifies as #gay. "This Australian import is sooo dark but so good. All of the characters have backstories that make them relatable even when contrasted with the despicable behaviors that landed them in prison and their actions while they are there. It’s interesting to see the dynamics amongst the different ages/classes of women in a dorm setting and see how a hierarchy is formed while within the prison system itself, similar bureaucratic rules are determining who will be the next governor (head of the prison). "
